January Book Club – Book Announcement

VIUF Book Club has chosen the book: The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu with Douglas Abrams, Avery ( an imprint of Penguin Random house),  2016.
In April 2015, Archbishop Tutu traveled to the Dalai Lama’s home in India to celebrate the 80th birthday of His Holiness. They both had survived more than 50 years of exile and wanted to answer one burning question: How do we find joy in the face of life’s inevitable suffering? They traded stories and stared into the abys and despair of our times and revealed how to live a life brimming with joy. They offer the Eight Pillars of Joy. I hope we all enjoy reading this book, after this difficult year of 2020!
All are welcome to join in the book club discussion which will follow the end of the service on the 4th Sunday of each month, being January 24th next month.
Also, please send Pamela Godt () your top choice for a book for the following month of February, either chosen from the other suggested books on the list distributed this month, or new possible choices. It has been mentioned that paperback books are cheaper to buy, so if some of your choices are already in paperback, please note that in your suggestion. Thank you! Pamela Godt
